The Golf did indeed take off, becoming a hit almost immediately, selling over a million within two and a half years. Today, as of April 2024, that count stands at over 37 million and is expected to continue to grow. There have been many different variants of the classic Golf, such as the GTI first introduced in 1976, and the Golf Cabriolet which rolled out in 1979 and became the best-selling convertible car in the world for a brief period of time. The Golf has changed over the years, with a different look, and upgraded technology, but remains the iconic vehicle that we know and love.
To celebrate the 50th birthday of the Golf, Volkswagen is launching an exclusive Golf Edition 50! This new addition to the Golf family will include a new IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights which will provide a longer range of vision, and an illuminated grille including the VW logo. As AI becomes more prevalent, the new infotainment system will include an IDA voice assistant that can answer nearly any question you can think of, as well as a faster processor. Keep an eye out later this year for the launch of the Golf Edition 50!
